Rest In Peace, Harvey Korman

We've lost another one.

He's up in Heaven now, still cracking up.

Picks Of The Litter

So I was watching the preview for Star Wars: Here We Go Again With The Force And The Light Sabers, and I was trying to figure out why one of the characters looked so familiar. Was it because I had seen him before? Or because I had the toy, as a wee lad?

Then I figured it out. It's the same face that stares at me as I'm waking up in the morning.

Lil' cutie. Separated at Birth?

Dixie Melody

Happy Birthday, Dixie Carter!

Remember way back when, when Dixie, Delta Burke, & that short lady who was also on Diff'rent Strokes, were all on that Dallas spoof?

God Bless, Museum of TV & Radio!

Turning Japanese

So I got up this morning and Zach was fiddling about with my globe. They seemed to be engaged in a conversation, most likely about world travel, and definitely in Japanese. What's Zach up to? I can't wait to find out!

Wrap It Up!

Sarah, Doug, Tyler, and I had dinner downtown at a frenchypants restaurant on Monday night. I had the lamb stew, helpfully described as a mixture of "lamb, vegetables, and lamb juice." Tyler had lamb sausages, Sarah had mussels & frites, and Doug had chicken pot pie.

I noticed a certain flame-haired Vilnius native at the next table over, and while she looked familiar I didn't realize at first that it was Jeanne-Claude, and her arm candy was non other than her husband Christo.

We let them sit of course and didn't disturb them. Had we wanted to though, our opening comment could have been that just like me, Sarah, and kinda Fernando Lamas, they share the same birthday - June 13th, in their case.

I also could have shown them the pictures I took a few years ago when they wrapped up Central Park in my signature style:

I really was afraid to disturb them though, in case they came over and wrapped up the four of us in our tablecloth.
Only in New York, kids!

What Happens In Vegas

What a surprise in store for me when I opened up some pictures Colleen sent me of her recent trip to Las Vegas. I don't see anything old, new, borrowed, or blue in this picture, but I think she went to Vegas a Miss and came back a Mrs! Congratulations, Colleen!

God Bless, America

Whew! It is me, CRD, and I am back from the antipodes.

Australia is a beautiful place, but nothing beats America for good old fashioned ingenuity, ingenue-ity, or cheeseburgers. I can't believe what a good job Amber did while I was gone keeping this place tidy, and I shall pull myself up by my bootstraps and endeavor to maintain the high quality standards she set while I was gone.

I did have a good time both with friends and scenery in Australia, as these pictures can attest.

One friend and I went to a Grill Your Own Steaks place one night for dinner.

Another took me swimming one day, and afterwards we climbed a mountain up above the city.
And even though I worked hard at our sales conference, sometimes I posed for pictures when we had our coffee breaks outside.
All in all though, I'm glad to be back in the US of A. God Bless, America!

Chris & Home Safe

CRD is back! Although I have enjoyed posting in his absence, I know that both you and I are relived that he'll be back in command shortly.

I've organized a big Welcome Home party for CRD tomorrow. The festivities will kick off with a Dance Parade, hosted by my main man, Mike Bloomberg. Meet us at 28th Street and Broadway at 1 p.m. So far, it looks like there will be about 3,500 of CRD's closest friends.

This is a picture I took when I traveled to Australia in the future to make sure the party would be fun. That's CRD on the right with the Hawaiian shirt and his signature-style heart-shaped ear muffs.

P.S. I won't be attending, and CRD doesn't know anything about it, but that shouldn't stop you!

Chris & American Meat

Another thing CRD would miss about America if he stayed in Australia would be Island Burgers & Shakes.

They may have kangaroo burgers down under, but do they have this?

And can you get it delivered to your door? I doubt it.

Chris & Bars

A key reason CRD should move back to America is that we have great bars here.

Chris & Never Coming Home

CRD called me on Saturday when Kevin, Diana, Nick and I were standing in front of Sapporo East, my favorite restaurant ever but not CRD's, to say that he is never coming home. He loves the taste of kangaroo meat and has decided to stay Down Under.

What CRD doesn't realize is that plenty of New Yorkers raise their own kangaroos in their apartments-- just like people raise chickens in the community gardens, only with better boxing ability.

It was sure nice having CRD for a friend. We originally met in Midtown at Grilled Cheese Friday many years ago. It's fitting our friendship begins and ends with regional foods. Sunrise, sunset.

Chris & Vocal Talent

Did you, devoted Internals Plural reader, know that CRD has a rare and genuine vocal talent for providing fill in pop songs?

I learned this once when on a road trip with him. His friends, Dan & Kathy, were getting married. I had met Kathy once before when she played Business Cards with Kevin at Old Town, but had never met Dan until he hit the dance floor to show his true non-rhythmic colors. Now, they have a baby for whom CRD probably knit a football uniform.

Anyhow, on that trip, I learned that CRD is really good at fill. In fact, I think Kanye West might have taken a lesson from him with his "forever, forever" in the "Diamonds are Forever" song. Only, CRD would do something like...

Dame Shirley Bassey: Diamonds are forever
CRD: Diamonds last a long time (falsetto)
Dame Shirley Bassey: They won't leave in the night
CRD: Staying all night
Dame Shirely Bassey: I have no fear that they might desert me
CRD: Desert with one s for sand, Dessert with two s'es so sweet

In honor of CRD, why don't you try to sing along and provide your own fill?

CRD & More Fruit

CRD also loves oranges. Or, at least, he loves their color.

He has several signature-style items in orange, including...

briefs...

(to be clear, that is not CRD and I have never seen his briefs on)

a shower curtain...

and several really cool pairs of orange sneakers.

CRD is safe from scurvy, for sure!

Amber & Chris's Fruit

Chris likes bananas. Every morning, he buys one with exact change at a deli. Often, while he is transacting, he calls me and I sing him the banana song. It goes like this.

Banana banana
Ba-na-na
Bananaaaaa
Banana! Hey! Banana!

(or some variation thereof).

CRD isn't the only one who loves bananas & music.

Amber & International Time Travel

Hello, Internals Plural reader! It's me, Amber. I'm guest-blogging for CRD whilst he is traveling internationally.

Yesterday, he arrived today in Australia, which means that tomorrow he will be on Thursday.

I am sure going to try hard to be his Constant through my posts to this blog.
What does it mean that he traveled Clockwise to get to Australia? Will he have to travel the opposite way in order to return to our timeland? And, will his apartment be really, really spotless when he gets back?

That Dang International Dateline

Sometimes I'm a Big Time Dummy. While I was talking to Amber last night, I realized that I couldn't possibly be arriving in Australia as I had originally thought - on Sunday morning. I do indeed arrive at 6am, but on Monday. Just in time for my meetings!

Since the only thing I could do to fix this would be to go back in time and leave yesterday, I have to be kinda sanguine about the whole affair. Oh well. God Bless, Australian Coffee. A large flat white for me, please!

Anyway, in a few hours I will begin my counter-clockwise trip and board a flight to Tokyo, then a mere 14 hours after that another flight to Sydney, then 10 hours after that I will be collecting my bags and taking a cab for 45 minutes to my hotel, a quick tooth-brushing, and then the office!

For my flight I have packed several "books," but most importantly I have the new Vanity Fair, which has pictures of Miley Cyrus' cooter if I'm to believe the news reports, a book of NYT Crossword Puzzles (good thing I know the name of Nick & Nora's dog, an evergreen of a clue), a bunch of new albums loaded to my iPod, and programs galore on the laptop.

I'll be doing my best to keep everyone apprised of my travels, but if we're lucky Amber will pry herself away from celebrating Art at the New York Plant Emporium to say a few things here. Arigato, Amber!

And if I'm lucky, the plane won't be attacked upon takeoff by one of those horrible Cloverfield monsters so common in Japan.

Kaibutsu!

Birthday Fever!

What a week! I've been so busy getting ready for Australia I've neglected my duties as part of the white noise of culture.

Today I took the morning off so I could catch up with such boring things as Laundry, Kitty Petting, and Crafting The Perfect 24 Hour Playlist for my flight.

I also caught up on all the birthdays I missed! Who knew such Titans of America were born this week?

Many Happy Returns to the Red Headed Stranger, Dame Cloris Leachman, and the multi-talented Christine Baranski.

It would also behoove me greatly to mention that today we celebrate the birthday of the greatest of them all, my dear friend The Rock. How I wish I could celebrate his birthday with him, Stifler Style!Fingers crossed I get everything packed in time, and don't get to Australia and realize I forgot to pack something important, like pants.
