Doodles, Bugs

So my favorite doodlebug is, of course, Doodlebug from Cleopatra Jones. Also, I like drawings in marginalia.

My Nana used to doodle, I wish I had one of those still. She would draw Veronica Lake again and again. Her TV Guide was filled with Veronicas Lake.

Other famous doodlers? I found some on this site here.

Here's Sylvia Plath doodling away in her diary. The site points out the marshmallow chasing the hot dog, I was mostly fascinated by her girly handwriting. Not at all what I expected the penmanship to look like under the bell jar.

My favorite of course is this one by Vladimir Nabokov. Of course he would draw a cockroach in his copy of Metamorphosis. And also of course, he would take issue with the translation. What a mind.

And speaking of our dear friend Franz, here's Kafka's doodlings. A whole story library here in just a few scribbles.
Thanks, doodlers. And God, Bless.

"I've Just Had A Baby In The Ladies' Room"

God Bless the internet for coming up with a Bette Davis blooper reel. If only they had Bonus Content back in the day, folks might not just walk in and out of the theatres.

Oh, and you'll have to click through to youtube to watch. Dang lawyers.

She sure liked to cuss!

Dot, Line, Love

This one is a little long, but is absolutely worth it.

The Dot And The Line won the 1965 Academy Award for animated short, deservedly so. Amber and I saw this as a Bonus Feature with a Doris Day movie once. The movie itself was fun, Doris wore a mermaid costume and Dom DeLuise was up to all his old tricks, but this little coda was perhaps my favorite part.

Enjoy.

The Cape, Unfurled

How much fun was the Cape? So much so that I have Bonus Content to post about!

We were disappointed not to attend the Wine & Chesse tasting.

We were overwhelmed by the bounty of Cape Cod™ Potato Chips to be found at the Falmouth Stop & Shop.

This is one of the many Kinbotian notes left around the Estate as helpful hints for us. I thought about pilching this one to bring home for my own trigger-lighter.

And finally, who doesn't love puns, Cape Cod style?

Caprice-ush-ness

So last night Amber and I watched Caprice, Doris Day's 1967 flick with Sir Richard Harris.

Now, I picked the movie out of the masses at the NYPL because the cover, as depicted above, screamed out to me. It promised to be a zingy mix of Alias & With Six You Get Eggroll, and how could that possibly go wrong?

Now, to be sure, this is as promised my new favorite movie. However, it wasn't until after we had watched all 98 minutes and had started in on the bonus features that we discovered it was in fact a spy spoof. The fact that Doris & Sir Richard were spies looking for the secret formula for waterproof hairspray? We weren't in on the joke.

Lesson learned. Sometimes, you DO want to watch the bonus content first.

Kenneth & The Kittens

Another thing I'm thankful for this year is Bonus Content on DVDs.

Here's my friend Kenneth talking about kitty cats.
