Un Sueno de Espana

Recently, Brian went on a European Adventure, of which I am very jealous. Back in the day before Publishing started going RIP fast, I used to travel to London a few times a year, and would almost always take a budget flight or Chunnel ride over to The Continent for some mirth & adventure.

Spain was always one of my favorite stops. My favorite things? The Museo de Jamon (now THAT is a museum that can finally rival the MT&R), Fanta Limon, and the Caja Madrid bear.

Culture? Well, I do love the Thyssen-Bornemisza museum. It's small, well curated, and has some of my favorite arts in it.

One of my favorites is Franz Marc's The Dream. Some people think I've never even heard of "Art," but whatever to them.

If you knew me back when I lived on Tiemann Place, you'd know I had a copy of it above my bed. I wonder sometimes where I put that.

(hi Marcus!)

If you know me today, you know I have the postcard of it on my door.

And also that I have it on a coffee cup.

See?

In conclusion, I sure do like this painting, and I sure am jealous of (and happy for) Brian's Continental Jaunt.

Two Great Tastes, Or, How Kermit Begat Liz

So on Saturday at Taco Club (follow the link to see photographic evidence of mirth) we watched The Muppets Take Manhattan, a delightful addition to the Muppet oeuvre. Ever since then I've had Muppets on the brain, but not as much as this guy, who purports that 30 Rock, another favorite of mine, is a direct descendent of The Muppet Show - much like Man is maybe, maybe not descended from Apes, or Kitty Cats from Dinosaurs.

I won't JD his entire post since you can read it yourself, but his photographic evidence is pretty danging, including the above snap of the main characters, and below of two of the key supporting ones.
He also helpfully reminds us of this great bit, which is pretty Muppet-friendly.

Thanks, Stranger, for pointing this out! And, for providing me with Content.

Whack-A-Puss

I sure am overwhelmed today.

Still? This is a nice way to spend a minute and a half.

Ladle Head

What can be better than becoming a home-owner?

The Ladle Head Game.

Herewith, my new favorite video, A Scoop Of Puss:

The second best part? The Rhoda Theme Song on repeat in the background.

Happy Pawlidays!

As I prepare for a 24 journey to see my family, and Zach prepare for 24 hours alone in the house, we think back on all the blessings we do have - like programs, friends, and wine, and we're glad to we got to celebrate all of those on the Eve.

I wonder what the first ever LOLcat had to be thankful for on Christmas?

Anyway, no matter what, there can never be a better Christmas moment than "Fairytale of New York." This live version is pretty good, but if you're like me you'll have the regular version playing on repeat all day. Have a merry one!

A Cuppa Ambition

The only way to find some mirth this AM as I prepare to go back to work from vacation is to find a precedent through Art of how to handle the day to come.

Chris & Bars

A key reason CRD should move back to America is that we have great bars here.

Charleston Club!

This morning I got up real early, then took a bus to a plane to another plane, and now I'm in Charleston, SC!

I am visiting my chum David, from college. We are about to embark on some Awesome Times, but first David needs to check out his lab rats. Before he picked me up at the airport he gave them some beer, and now he has to go see how much beer they drank. I think Science is great.

Soon, mirth!

Moving Her Hovels

Today is one of those Days Of Awesomeness that we all look forward to in our lives, because Amber is moving her rump back to NYC.

All I know is I have a queue full of programs for watching, and we're going to get down to business. Every day is Awesome Club hence forth.

Snow!

Whew! Yesterday was so busy that I didn't even have time to make a post. I did have time to have lots of meetings though, and even took a break to have some fun in the snow. Here I am in a little snowchair that I made. Brrr!

God Bless America.

Amber & Fish House Punch

Every other year, when Amber lives on Avenue B and all is right in the world, she has a very warm holiday party which I attend. One year I left the leather pants at home and brought my friend Paul.

That year Amber decided to serve Fish House Punch. My exhaustive internet research indicates this was invented in that leap year of 1732, the same year that George Washington was born. It was served at Gentlemen's Parties to help them escape domestic tribulation. I know it helped me and Paul escape sobriety. We had a bit too much mirth that night, from what I can recall.

Later, we realized that we had inadvertently brought the Abominable Snowman home with us.
Danger!

Special Amber Weekend

In a few hours, ALH is arriving for her end of year visit. We plan on having Good Times and Mirth.

Last time she visited she borrowed James' hat and she looked like a Make-A-Wish Kid. My wish this visit is for fun times!

(James took this good picture. He has more pictures here.)

'Tis The Season: Tree, Trimmed

One great thing about a studio apartment is that once you put up the Christmas Tree, you can see it from just about wherever you are in the house.

One great thing about trimming a tree is that you can use it as an excuse to eat a lot of Christmas-themed junk food, and wine, and invite over some friends.

This year in exchange for food and a place for having mirth, I was given beautiful ornaments by my friends for the tree.

So much fun was had that Tyler fell asleep on the couch, visions of sugar-plums and sugar cookies dancing in his head.

Homeward Bound!

I am here now in the Qantas Lounge, soon to board a flight from Auckland to LAX, then onward to JFK, then at long last: (after six different ones) a night in my own bed. To sleep, perchance to dream, and perchance with a puss on the pillow snuggled to my head.

New Zealand has been a delightful capper to this trip, and much time and mirth have been enjoyed with friends - including Shelley's delightful baby, Shelley Jr., aka Millie.

The only part of New Zealand that scared me is the Famous Terrifying Santa Claus that stands atop the Whitcoull's Bookshop on Queen Street.

The particular picture doesn't quite do him justice, as his index finger is motorized as if beckoning wee kiwi babies to come whisper their Christmas secrets in his oversized mechanical ear.

God Bless America.

Hello, Spaceman

In San Francisco, I stay with Sarah. Her boyfriend Sam is a photographer, and takes lots of cool pictures. I like this one of the Spacemen playing swings. I like to think it promotes inter-galactic mirth.

San Francisco Days

There is much mirth in my day today as I realized this morning I'm leaving for a week's vacation in San Francisco this Sunday. Once when I went to SF, Sarah's boyfriend Sam taught me the opening chords to "Free Fallin'" by Mr. Tom Petty on his guitar. I don't remember how to play it anymore, but I still like Sam, and San Francisco.

Today is a special day because Amber is visiting for the weekend. Sometimes when she visits we put on our very best outfits and go to the Museum.
