El Mexi-cation mas bueno

I like America and all, what I know is true is that I had a great vacation in Mexico, and ever since I got back, I've had a bad cold. Whatevs.

What did we did? Well, at our stop in Northern California, we went kiwi picking.

Who knew? They grow on TREES.

Then, thankfully, we got to Mexico.

We had bloody maries with pico de gallo on top! Best BM ever.

Pina Coladas! Poolside.

More poolside! No Molesta!
Also? Ceviche that I would marry if it was legal. Legal Seafood, that is. Que?

And, infinity pools for afternoon cocktails.
In Conclusion: Vacation 1, Back to Work 0.

(Almost) Live Blogging! Amber Birthday Cocktail!

UPDATE! Now with ME!

Amber Alert!

Do you know who has a birthday today?

That's right! Ivan The Terrible!

Know who else? Hint: she has one thumb and a margarita.

That's right! AMBER.

Amber and I met back in 1996. However, the earliest digital evidence I have of our friendship is this photo here, taken (I think) in 2003. We seem to be in Grant's office and I am just noticing now that it looks like the cast of Six Feet Under is cascading out of my head, Russian Doll Style.

Back in those days, Amber and I would have many adventures together, like when we went to the "Museum" for "Culture."

But then on MY birthday one year Amber thought it would be fun to move out of town. She went to work at this store. I'm not sure what they did, but it was definitely a storefront. I think she was like a Walmart greeter, waving to passersby so they'd come in and sample the wares.

Then, she moved to a DIFFERENT city. I visited her there once or twice, but all she did was pass out on the couch with the kitty ears on. Whatever, Friendship.

BUT, now she's back, and we get to have Fun Times again, like at Awesome Club or Vegetable Club or Wedding Club or Birthday Fancy Feast Club. Sometimes, she embarrasses herself, but usually we're good.

I made this handy graph using Excel, one of the touchstones of our Friendship, to show our friendship using Science.

Here's hoping she stays put this time!

Happy Birthday, Buddy!

River House Club 2009

Just about every year Amber rents a house on the Delaware River Gap, and just about every time she does this, I head on up for a visit.

This year the River got filled with Nature, so it was a bit brown. Too muddy for swimming or wading, so the water socks I bought two years ago still have the price tags on them.

According to this plaque, a famous author was born here. This prompted Kevin to sing a song.

Probably the best part of River House is that Cocktail Hour starts after lunch. Here I am enjoying a Bloody Mary on the Lawn.

I was not alone!
Here I am up close. You can see that Amber gave me an XL Pickle to compensate for No Olives in my Bloody Mary.

Here I am with my friends the trees.

Sometimes I would say things to prompt Diana to give me Sassy Face.

Here's Amber enjoying Cocktail Hour on the Porch.

Even when it was rainy we didn't get bored, we just played iPhones.

Thanks, River House, for all the Fun Times.

Truly Mad Men Deeply

I'll admit it, I'm just not a fan of the Mad Men program. I like tableaux vivant as much as the next guy, but I don't connect with the show. That's OK though, I have a lot of friends who like it and one great thing to look forward to on the Cape is watching it with Sarah. Any show is fun to watch with friends.

One thing I do like is the Mad Men Videogame they have over on the AMC website. You can create your own little mad man version of yourself.

Here's Sarah now, on her way to the office eating a donut. Mmm, donuts.

I also made ones of me and Amber. In this tableau she's bringing me a coffee, since she can't drink the stuff herself anymore.

It sure was fun in the 60s when your friends would bring you caffeinated beverages. And you would drink cocktails in your suit.

In 2039, It'll Be All Mine!

Here are some exciting things to look at.

For example, the most expensive keys I have ever bought. As of today, I own 25% of them. In 30 years, I'll have paid off the bank and will own the rest!

After signing my name to one million documents, some chums accompanied me to my new place (after we ate hot dogs) for Champagne Celebration & Moving In Dreams.

Here we see me sitting where the couch will go, for maximum program watching. Wait, what's that behind me? Oh, A SEPARATE ROOM FOR THE BED TO GO IN. In real estate terms, we call this a "bedroom."

Kevin is posing with the fireplace and the kitchen island. I'm sure going to get nice stools to go with the island, so people can sit and watch me cook all my stews.

Here you can see Amber posing with the fireplace. The space behind her right shoulder is where the Programs will go.

Also? You can imagine my surprise when Amber pointed out you can see the Empire State Building from my living room.

I sure am happy to have such a new apartment, and friends to fill it up with.

Also? Two Nicks of Time

The Nicks Update One:

We sure had fun seeing The Nicks last night. There were many highlights, and most of them revolved around the Fellowship.

Here we are in Rich People Sports Bar getting our drink on before the game.

Diana got a fancy lady drink at the sports bar:

Amber is holding up our tickets so you can see how expensive they were.

The Nicks Update Two:

The Nicks - the other one - is doing press this week for her new CD/DVD.

First, she had this to say about the Spears:

Fleetwood Mac front-woman Stevie Nicks is not, apparently, a fan of Britney Spears. "You have to pay your dues to be a real rock star," Nicks said yesterday. "It's different in that Britney did not join a band when she was 18 and practice every day for five hours Monday through Friday and then play gigs Friday, Saturday and Sunday."

Then in today's paper, she said this about the Lohan:

Lindsay Lohan hopes to buy the rights to her life story and to play her on film. Unmoved, Ms. Nicks responded: “Over my dead body. She needs to stop doing drugs and get a grip. Then maybe we’ll talk.”

I sure like all of the Nicks.
