The Buck Should Have Stopped Before Here
Wait, this is really offensive, right?
I got a little startled reading this article on the train today.

Things, Collected
Art? Sometimes I take it, and sometimes I leave it.
This website, I like to visit. Each day, a new collection of ordinary things.
Here's some now.
Because, why not?

Awards of Excellence, Japan-Style
Japan has some crazypants architecture.
There's this building here, which looks a lot like the birdhouse in my soul:
Also this one:
And this one, though it looks a little fake to me:
But? There's a new one opening this autumn, where you can buy purses and sweaters:
And the architectors just won an award!
I love Awards of Excellence. Congratulations, Excellenters!

Good Times And Bum Times
Reposting from Gothamist, but what else are you supposed to do with Stritchy news?
Dame Elaine sang at the White House for the President. From an audience member's tweet:
Stritch forgetting the lyrics to “I’m Still Here,” her musical director screaming the lyrics at her multiple times, and ultimately making them go back (was actually painful, endearing and unique all at once — kinda like Stritch). Then getting a standing ovation led by the Obamas and clearly apologizing to them afterward.
And then the WaPo reported:
Stritch "pleaded guilty to a whopping case of nerves, reported how thrilled she was when Obama was elected and then said, 'I'd love to get drunk with the president.' After the whoops subsided, she added diplomatically: 'And the first lady.' "
As Stritchy herself reported earlier this year, it's an easy song to flub.

Un Sueno de Espana
Recently, Brian went on a European Adventure, of which I am very jealous. Back in the day before Publishing started going RIP fast, I used to travel to London a few times a year, and would almost always take a budget flight or Chunnel ride over to The Continent for some mirth & adventure.
Spain was always one of my favorite stops. My favorite things? The Museo de Jamon (now THAT is a museum that can finally rival the MT&R), Fanta Limon, and the Caja Madrid bear.
Culture? Well, I do love the Thyssen-Bornemisza museum. It's small, well curated, and has some of my favorite arts in it.
One of my favorites is Franz Marc's The Dream. Some people think I've never even heard of "Art," but whatever to them.
If you knew me back when I lived on Tiemann Place, you'd know I had a copy of it above my bed. I wonder sometimes where I put that.
(hi Marcus!)
If you know me today, you know I have the postcard of it on my door.
And also that I have it on a coffee cup.
See?
In conclusion, I sure do like this painting, and I sure am jealous of (and happy for) Brian's Continental Jaunt.

This Movie Has EVERYTHING
This is my FAVORITE movie of all time. I can't wait until it's on DVD so I can finally see it!
Moon, June, Lorna Doone
Here's what June 2010 looked like over here at Internals Plural: I used wordle to make a little cloud of my brain droppings:
Also, when people came here on accident last month, here's what they were looking for:
People looking for help with their plurals needed these words:
In conclusion, June was a nice month, except very, very hot.
Here's some June Carter Cash to bring us home, with a fun little ditty that SOUNDS dirty (like poutine), but isn't, unlike pooteen.
Also, when people came here on accident last month, here's what they were looking for:
- bedknobs broomsticks
- betty white
- betty white victorious (2 folks for that phrase!)
- canadian dish (did they mean this or this?)
- farley granger hairy (I'm not really sure if he was or not, but Monty sure was a hirsute buddy)
- l-m-n-o-pee
- montgomery clift
- montgomery clift hairy
- natalie wood spanking (dirty! this is what I found when I googled that)
- picture of matrilineal family (here's one)
- pooteens (dirty)
- shark internals
- sirotan
People looking for help with their plurals needed these words:
- what is the plural of town?
- plural for tab
- plural of betty
- plural of revenge
- honey plural

Alright, Who Shaved A Dozen Sheep In My Sink?
If you've been to my house in the past few weeks, and used my bathroom, and washed your hands like your momma taught you to do, then you know my bathroom sink has been backed up for a while, draining slower than molasses in a Michigan winter.
This morning I fixed the problem. And almost died at how gross the problem was. Hint: it was not a problem with my pipes.
Here's my story, as told in one of the best movies of all time:

Birthday! Puss!
Who has no thumbs and is six years old today?
That's right, this guy!
As everyone knows, Zach is the bestest.
At night, he curls up tight so he doesn't miss a thing, in case I decide to suddenly wake up at 2am for hallwalks or noms.
When we watch programs, he hovers over my shoulder enjoying both my company and Mrs. Fletcher's.
And most of all? Every now and then, he cuddles up, usually in those moments when Photobooth photography is flattering to only one of us.
Happy Birthday, little buddy!

Bring It, Music
Know what I like? Good songs.
Know what else I like? When people I like do cover versions of other people's good songs, or even of their own good songs.
Cases in Point:
How do you make the new Kylie Minogue song even better?
You do it up country style:
How does Robyn make her own new song even better?
You do it up slow & sad style.
Also? One of my favorite parts of one of my favorite albums last year? Alicia Keys' "Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart." Is Robyn's acoustic, lyric muffing version better? No, but it's dang good.
Also also? Remember how last summer Kelly Rowland ruled the world with that great song?
Here she is doing an acoustic version of what they're hoping is this summer's smash. It's with Sir David Guetta again.
Who knew Brits could do such a good job with music?

When 100% Is Not Enough; Or, Giving It Your Al(l)(oe)
Last night was lots of fun because Paul and Ty and I had Slumber Party Club, due to them being homeless for 12 hours.
One awesome thing was they got to see my pre-bed routine of Aloe-based pain relief due to the sunburn I gave myself when we all went to the beach. Ty is modeling the lotion here.
Know why it's so effective? It is made up of 70% Aloe, and 70% Aloe.
I'm 140% of the way to getting sunburn relief!
