The Ballard Of The (Not) Sad Kaye

So I was at the NYPL the other day on the hunt for Ernest Borgnine's new memoir, Ernie, by Ernest Borgnine. There I am in the B section of Bio and Ernie isn't out yet, but I stumble upon Kaye Ballard's How I Lost 10 Pounds in 53 Years.

I really only knew Ms. Ballard from her Pepsodent commercials and often confused her with Martha Raye, but since Shelley Winters was in her index and there were pics of her with my pals Maurice Chevalier and Doris Day, I figured it was a go.

The book was fun and she had a lot to say about the early days of talking pictures, her friendships & costars, her fling with Marlon Brando, her role in the internal-plural-friendly The Mothers-In-Law, her part in one of the revivals of Follies, and her love of the gays.

Really though, I'll always remember her best for her tremendous dance scene with Sweetums Thog on the Muppets.

Aquas-man

All I'm saying is, after a week like this one, I really want to hop in the ocean. Not Virginia Woolf style, but more like the style in which one talks to fish buddies and fights crimes. That's all I'm sayin'.

Cats Got My Tongue

So this week at work sure is a Stinker - so much so that yesterday I didn't even get to visit here. Seems like Books are the most important thing in the world.

So forgive me the use of borrowed material, but these are my favorite kitty snaps of the past few weeks. Just as with unhappy Russian families, each kitty is funny in its very own way.

Optometry Humor never cracks me up, unless it's with kitties and misspellings.

This one is fun to say out loud whilst simultaneously cuddling & pulling the tail of your little buddy. I use my Foghorn Leghorn Voice.

And this one is just great.

Here's hoping for a quiet day with the Books.

Iceland On My Mind

Back in The Past, my friend Seth lived here in America, specifically in NYC. We were grand chums and went out on the town often - with many long nights capped off with homeward bound trips on the uptown 1 train.

We also, from time to time, went to Seattle on vacation - and in fact, did so using up travel vouchers from a planned yet canceled trip to Iceland.

Now, in The Present, Seth lives in Iceland, and has quite a good time there entertaining the natives.

I'm lucky that he's visiting NYC again and we get to go on our adventures. We can all be lucky that he has a fancypants website & a facebook radio thingy, because everyone gets to share in his talent.

Here he is doing a song that I thought I'd only ever like Willie Nelson do.

Welcome back to America, Seth!

Lipstick On A Lemon

Now, here at Internals Plural we don't like to get too involved with the Politics, but this here sure is funny.

God Bless, Liz Lemon. Can't wait for 30th Rock From The Sun to start!

Ladies & Muppets, Sir Johnny Cash

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but Johnny Cash died On This Day In History, 5 years ago.

Let's remember him as he was in life. Or at least, as he was when he was singing with our dear friends the Muppets.

Foreigners Say The Darndest Things, part deux

I never understand what Frenchies are saying.

And I will never, ever, understand this Frenchie advertisement for what I suppose is sausage?

Quelle barf.
