From Boat To Boat
Isn't it nice that Shelley Winters and Ernest Borgnine got make up after all that fighting in The Poseidon Adventure? And on another boat, too!
Happy Sunday!

They Don't Make 'Em Like They Used To
I was sad to read this article in the paper a few months back - why, oh why, must the Liberace Museum close its doors before I ever get to go?
Thankfully, Google Images will not close its doors anytime soon, at least not until world domination is achieved. Here's some of my favorites of Mr. Showmanship.
I mean, I'd have a piano-shaped pool if I could.
I'd also be friends with Phyllis Diller if I could.
Maybe not with the Walken. Stay off the boat, Liberace!
And one more Diller for good luck:
In conclusion, here he is on the Smothers Brothers - kinda long but fun.

of Shot, Slipperiness, and Ladies Portions
Hey, guess what! I totally forgot I went to London last month. These were my favorite bits of signage:
Sometimes at restaurants, there's a warning your food may contain "shot." Mmmm, animals.
This sign was posted three times in the bathroom at my horrible hotel. Are British people slippery than Americans?
And this one, I promise you, is coming into my lexicon. Ladies Portion!

Slippery When Wet
I had Indian Food for dinner last night, and over curry Esther Williams came up, as she does sometimes.
When I got home I asked Shorty to re-read the first chapter of Million Dollar Mermaid, Esther's late-90s memoir that I so love. I remember there was a line in that opening chapter that made me take it home from the bookstore.
So, he sat in the new chair and did just that:
And lo, there it was!
"Nobody was going to make multimillion-dollar aqua-musicals ever again." You don't find many lines better than that. Thanks, Esther.
Also, remember when we in the book biz used to make tchotchkes to promote our wares? Here's something you can print out and make at home! Ask an adult to help with the scissoring.

Content Poach FAIL
OK, so this site was popular for a while and not so much anymore, but that doesn't mean there aren't still some goodies in this collection of things that, um, Fail. So, a little content poaching seemed in order.
As someone who peddles books, I like this here library collection:
As someone who is sometimes a perv, this makes me laugh.
Dirty words! Foreigner accident!
Mmm, Grandma...
This is not how you save money on gas.
This might be?
Anyway, the end.

Cash on Delivery
Do I love Johnny Cash? Yes, yes I do. Always did, since I was a wee baby playing my parents' records, up through his mid-90s comeback.
What else do I love? Television. And so, here's some great moments with guest stars on The Johnny Cash Show. Thank you, youtube, thank you.
Here's the Staple Singers:
Sir Ray Charles:
Miss Joni Mitchell:
And here's the best, which Amber and I saw at the Museum of Television & Radio eons ago. As Catwoman would say, purrfect.
